Bringing military women closer together through singing

The Yeovilton Military Wives Choir formed in September 2012 as a result of the outstanding success of the original Military Wives Choirs from Chivenor and Plymouth, made famous through the BBC TV programme with Gareth Malone. The Yeovilton Military Wives Choir has nearly 60 members who meet weekly in Ilchester to have fun, rehearse together and provide mutual support as they deal with the challenges of Service life.

Farewell '17 Welcome '18

Yeovilton Military Wives Choir was set up to bring women in the military community closer together through singing. There are no auditions required and no need to read music. All you need is a military connection.

What a fantastic year 2017 has been for the choir, it is amazing to reflect and realise how much we've achieved over the last 12 months.  We started the year by performing our second annual concert at the Octagon Theatre to a sell-out audience, shortly followed by a guest appearance with The Royal Marines Association Concert Band.  We were lucky to be invited to perform at Charlton Horethorne, Collet Park, RNAS Yeovilton Air Day, the Yeovil Marathon, with Collabro for the second time, and at M&Co in Sherborne to celebrate the launch of the new range of Military Wives Choirs merchandise.  Amongst other fun and poignant events, we learned some beautiful new songs and although we are always sad to see members go on to pastures new, we welcome other new ladies with open arms.

2018 will be a special year for the choir as it marks the centenary of the end of World War 1.  We will be joining other Military Wives Choirs in a special commemorative project to create an album with Remembrance at its heart.  Music for the album centres on four exciting new commissions by prestigious composers, and we will be collaborating with world class military musicians from the three services.

Thank you to all our families, friends and fans for supporting us in all that we do.
