Bringing military women closer together through singing
The Yeovilton Military Wives Choir formed in September 2012 as a result of the outstanding success of the original Military Wives Choirs from Chivenor and Plymouth, made famous through the BBC TV programme with Gareth Malone. The Yeovilton Military Wives Choir now has over 50 members who meet weekly in Ilchester to have fun, rehearse together and provide mutual support as they deal with the challenges of Service life.
Come and sing with us
Yeovilton Military Wives Choir was set up to bring women in the military community closer together through singing. There are no auditions required and no need to read music. All you need is a military connection.
What a year it has been for the choir; we have had some outstanding performances and lots of laughter along the way. We kicked the year off to a fantastic start with our debut on the well-known BBC TV Programme 'Flog It' (still to be aired!), we had a summer of singing at the Somerton Arts Festival and Sherborne Abbey Music Festival (don’t think there was a dry eye in the house!), rounded off by a performance on home turf for the scorching Yeovilton Air Day. The latter part of the year saw us celebrating the launch of the Poppy Appeal with the Royal British Legion at the Axminster Guildhall and revisiting a YMWC favourite in December – the Concert under Concorde! 2013 also saw us celebrating our first birthdayJoin the choir
