Concert with the Royal Marines Association Concert Band
We were privileged to be invited back for our third concert with the Royal Marines Association Concert Band at Yeovil’s Octagon Theatre – a concert that was thoroughly enjoyed by those on stage as well as the sold out theatre of patrons!
Led by RMA Band Director of Music, Major (retd) Tony Smallwood, the Band performed some well-known, rousing marching pieces as well as a hauntingly beautiful rendition of the score from “ET” and an eclectic medley; “The Best of Broadway”.
The Band accompanied the Choir with a selection of our Military Wives Songs including “Wherever You Are”, “Sing” and “Stronger Together”. The choir also performed “Annie’s Song”, “Tipperary Medley” and the emotive “Fix You”.
After the Band performed the very poignant Prelude & Sunset salute, the Choir once again joined them to sing “Rule, Britannia!” which was followed by “Heart of Oak” and “A Life on the Ocean Wave” – the audience were encouraged to join in and sing along with a lovely accompaniment of patriotic flag waving!
The Band were, once again, an absolute delight to perform alongside. The seasoned musicians are not only an incredible talent to witness but they are also a joy to get to know and meet year after year. This event is a highlight in the Choir’s calendar – an event that we hope continues for many more years to come!
