St Martin of Tours Church

Published: June, 2016

What a treat to be invited back a second time to sing at St Martins of Tours at West Coker on Wednesday 15th June. We had the privilege of sharing the concert with HMS Heron Volunteer Band under the leadership of Sgt Iain Scullion, helping to raise money for the church roof fund and the West Coker Youth Club.

Singing favourites with fantastic soloists the choir finished the first set with Eternal Father which really moved some of the audience to shed a few tears.

The band played a mixture of traditional military music including ....... as well as some popular and modern pieces ........

During the interval choristers, band members and audience had the chance to meet and mingle and discuss about being in the Military Wives Choir or the Volunteer Band.

The second set started with a solo from Gemma Davies starting us all off with "One Voice" and the choir really raised the roof with "Stronger Together" as the finale.

Coinciding with the Queens 90th birthday celebrations, the audience joined in enthusiastically with the Vera Lynn medley and with the "Songs that Won the War" medley and again as the choir joined with the band to sing the National Anthem, Rule Britannia and Land of Hope and Glory to finish off another super evening of music and song.
