YMWC Second Annual Concert

Published: February, 2017

Yeovilton Military Wives Choirs second annual concert, 5th Februaury 2017 at the Octagon Theatre, Yeovil.

This was the choirs second sell out concert which commenced with a voice recording of different choir members describing what the choir meant to them. The first act was a beautiful rendition of 'Don't Worry About Me' sung by Jo Bolter. The choir went on to sing a selection of favourites including Rule The World, Wherever You Are and Stronger Together, intersperesed with fabulous solos from Natalie Phillips 'I've Got My Love To Keep Me Warm', Suzy Othen 'Basin Street Blues' and Gemma Davies 'Don't Rain On My Parade' and an amusing prose by Sarah Crosby about the realities of life as a military wife.

For the second half, the choir walked onto the stage from the auditorium whilst singing Home Fires. This was not a mean feat whilst wearing high heels, thankfully no-one tripped! Ann Faulkner accompanied us on piano for a selection of songs such as Bring Him Home, With or Without You and One Voice. Some light relief was supplied in the 'Seventies Surprise' act which was made up of some brightly and bravely attired ladies performing an Abba medley.

It was a warmly received concert, with enthusiastic applause from the audience making us all feel very proud and privileged to be part of this talented choir. We also had the honour of being asked to take part in a wedding anniversary celebration as we were informed that a couple who met at RNAS Yeovilton Air station were in the audience. In addition to wishing them well, we presented them with a bunch of flowers.

Next years concert will be on 11th of February 2018 and tickets are already selling well. You can purchase yours by clicking the link below.
